What Is a Splitter

A splitter is a device used to split the cable signal to two or more devices. The output signal will be an exact clone of the original.

  • HDMI Splitter: features an integrated signal amplifier to ensure the longest transmission distance possible. It is also important to note that since HDMI transmits via a pure digital signal path, there will be absolutely no loss of quality. A HDMI Splitter will also negotiate the connection much like the source device would if it was connected directly. This means it will utilize EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) to ensure the correct resolution is automatically selected.
  • Ethernet Splitter: The purpose of using ethernet splitters is simple. It allows you to use more than one connection with only one port. This can be especially useful in situations where you have more devices than Ethernet ports.
  • Cable Splitter: is a small device that allows two separate coaxial cables to be run from a single outlet or similar type of cable source. These devices are often used in homes or businesses where only a single wall outlet for a cable signal is available, but multiple televisions, modems, or similar devices are needed for connection. A cable splitter can potentially degrade the signal quality coming from a cable outlet, and multiple splitters on a single line should be avoided.
  • AV Splitter: They primarily take on media from a single source and transmit this across multiple devices such as monitors like computer screens within an office. Splitters are also super useful for complex AV projects if you want to process multiple signals for a video wall.
